Practical Services
Living in the community in which we serve, Colin Phillips and Daughters Funeral Directors understand that the rising cost of funerals can be difficult for many families. It is for this reason we can help you with all the practical elements for the funeral service to help you achieve an affordable ceremony and provide a dignified farewell without the added stress and worry of ever-increasing costs.
Floral Tributes
Depending upon your belief and customs, flowers may, or may not form an integral part of your funeral service. Although it is becoming more commonplace for charitable donations to be requested instead of flowers, this does not normally extend to the immediate family and close friends. Flowers provide a meaningful tribute, bringing a warmth and visible expression of love, which many families see as an important part of the funeral ceremony. Although certain flowers do have different meanings, it is more important that you choose colours and flowers that have special meaning to you and convey what you want to say, maybe reflecting the personality of the person who has died.
At Colin Phillips and Daughters, we use several local Florist businesses and can help you to make the floral tribute arrangements, some of the local businesses that we use are: Florist on the Farm, Cardigan, Heulwen Morris, Lechryd, Flowers by Annabel, Newport and Trefhedyn, Newcastle Emlyn.
Order of Service
We can advise you with all aspects of the Order of Service choosing from themed designs, they can be personalised to reflect the passions or hobbies of the deceased using photographs, particular readings or hymns, creating a cherished keepsake commemorating the life of your loved one.
Memorial Masonry
At Colin Phillips and Daughters Funeral Services we can offer you advice on memorial masonry, consideration on the design, inscription, churchyards regulations etc
There are so many ways to commemorate the life of a person who has died, and the most conventional memorial is still a headstone for their grave, or a tablet or plaque in a remembrance garden.
When choosing a memorial some of the considerations to take into account include:
- Regulations: The majority of cemeteries and churchyards have restrictions on the type of memorial they allow.
- Location: It is important to consider where the memorial will be placed. If the grave is close to a tree or a hedge, a porous material such as marble or stone may be stained by leaves.
- Material: There are many types of material available for memorials; the most common are granite, marble and stone.
Colin Phillips and Daughters use the services of ‘Grace Concerns’ for much of their masonry supplies, please click on the link below to find out further details.
